Meet the founder
I'm James Robinson, an indie coder from Australia's Blue Mountains who's spent years building practical tools that solve real-world problems. My projects range from Naismith's Rule Calculator—a web and iOS app helping hikers plan safer treks—to real-time monitoring systems, Firefox browser extensions that reveal hidden property data, and enterprise-grade Progressive Web Apps managing commercial vehicle fleets across Australia.
But the more apps I built, the more I noticed a pattern: talented developers were burning months (sometimes years) on projects that went nowhere. Not because they couldn't code—they absolutely could. They failed because they were guessing what users wanted instead of actually listening.
I saw this everywhere. Brilliant devs building beautiful solutions to problems that didn't exist, while users were literally screaming in app reviews about features they desperately needed. The disconnect was painful to watch.
That's why I created App Ideas Finder. I got tired of seeing developers fail because they picked the wrong idea. This tool does what I wish I'd had when I started: it analyzes thousands of real App Store reviews using AI, showing you exactly what users love, what they hate, and—most importantly—what's missing. No more guessing. Just data-driven insights in seconds.
Beyond the keyboard, I lead Scouts in the Blue Mountains and run Camp Medlow, my off-grid sustainable bush campsite. I believe great software comes from listening to users, not making assumptions. App Ideas Finder is my way of helping developers build things people actually want.
